Local volleyball powerhouse Gisagara Volleyball Club has unveiled its squad ahead of the 2024 season that is scheduled to start on January 20. Gisagara goes into the new season as the defending champions, having won last year’s trophy. ALSO READ: Top transfers that could shape the 2024 volleyball league Speaking to Times Sport, the club’s head coach Lawrence Yakan Guma said they have signed new players and are looking forward to the beginning of the season. The new players brought on board include left attacker Venuste Gatsinzi who crossed over from APR, Nigerien middle blocker Adomou Doudou Djibril, Kenyan setter Melly Brian Kipkirui who also signed from APR, and Gloire Niyonkuru, a left attacker who is joing from REG. ALSO READ: Volleyball: Police coach Musoni anticipates ‘exciting’ season The team has also signed Ugandan left attacker Allan Eliet Olokotum from Ugandan club KAVC, Willy Rukundo, also a left attacker from St Joseph Kabgayi, Herve Martial Inkoramutima, a right attacker from SV Lindow Gransee, Germany, as well as Bienvenu Rukundo, a middle blocker from Police VC. “We want to be ready for the new season. We are preparing for it as a team. The focus is to win the title again,” Guma said.
