The President of Rayon Sports, Jean Fidèle Uwayezu, has announced that the club will appoint a new head coach within this week. He made the commitment during a press conference held on Monday, January 15 at the club's headquarters in Kicukiro. ALSO READ: Rayon to part ways with coach Mohamed Wade Since October, the club has been under the interim leadership of assistant coach Mohamed Wade, who took over from Tunisian coach Yamen Zelfani. Zelfani departed the club by mutual agreement in October. Recent reports suggested that Wade might face dismissal after the team's 2-1 defeat to Gasogi United last Friday. However, Uwayezu clarified that Wade will retain his role as an assistant to the new head coach. We acknowledge that we are somewhat delayed in appointing a new head coach, but I can assure you that by the end of this week, we will have a new head coach, Uwayezu said. Wade was initially brought in as an assistant coach, and that remains unchanged. After Zelfani's departure, we requested his assistance during our search for the perfect replacement, he added. When journalists asked him whether he does not expect potential conflicts between the new coach and Wade who had managed the club for the past 12 games, the president noted that he has scheduled meetings with Wade on Monday evening to discuss more. He noted that he is prepared to hear Wade's ideas and anticipates his return to his role on Wednesday, following his absence from two training sessions on Sunday and Monday. We have a meeting today to discuss the way forward. I hope he won't be disappointed because he came here as an assistant coach. We'll find a good solution,” he noted. Uwayezu also dismissed rumours of the club being in final talks with Burundian coach Jimmy Ndizeye. We have not made any contact with Jimmy. There are a lot of rumours, but I have never personally spoken to him. We are exploring different options, he said.
