Fiba-Africa Women Club Championships Day 1: KPA 44-43 APRDay 2: Desportivo 88-41 APRDay 3: APR 81-61 KCC APR yesterday posted their first win at the on-going 14th Fiba-Africa Women Club Championship in Kenya after a compelling 81-61 victory over Uganda’s KCC Leopards. The win was timely for the national league champions after a poor start to the tournament characterised by successive defeats against KPA and defending champions Desportivo. Although APR were unlucky losers on day one against KPA (43-44), they clearly came off second best to tournament favourites ‘Desportivo’ after an 88-41 full time score on day two. Against KCC, APR struggled to find their pace earlier on and even trailed the Ugandans at half time (23-31) after falling behind in the first two quarters; 11-13 and 12-18. However, the Rwandan giants bounced back in the second half thanks to some individual prowess from Jocelyne Muhongerwa and Aline Sine. The duo masterminded the club’s fight back to guide the military side to convincing third and fourth quarter wins; 25-11 and 33-19. This performance earned APR a 20 points margin victory. Muhongerwa finished off with a game high 30 points while Sine weighed in with 15. Ends
