As the teams gear up for the second half challenge, there is a shared determination to start on a positive note. Throughout the nine encounters between the two teams, Rayon has been the better side, boasting five wins, three draws, and one defeat. On paper, Rayon look very formidable with top players like Congolese maestro Heritier Luvumbu and Ugandan speedster Joackim Ojera who have been a key problem for defences in the league. Despite such, it is important to note that Gasogi has always been an unpredictable team that can cause upsets. For instance, during the first round, they held APR to a goalless draw. As both teams head into the second round, they have changes in their squads. Rayon, for instance, is now under the guidance of coach Mohammed Wade after the dismissal of Yamen Zelfani. In addition, the team also recently introduced Senegalese striker Paul Gomis and goalkeeper Khadime Ndiaye. Gasogi, on the other hand, underwent changes during the ongoing transfer window, releasing three players, including striker Maxwell Ravel Djoumekou and winger Kevin Ishimwe. On a positive note, the team managed to keep their talisman Theodor Malipangou who has always stepped up in big games.
