Danish club Fc Nordsjælland has shown keen interest in signing Amavubi Stars captain Olivier Karekezi from Swedish side If Helsingborg. In an e-mail message, the former APR midfielder told Times Sport on Thursday that the Danish club is ready to talk to his current employers for his transfer. “They (Fc Nordjalland) have already contacted me through my new Norwegian agent Peter Dahl,” he disclosed. Karekezi added that, “They have already started negotiating my transfer with Helsingborg and if all sides come to an understanding, by mid next month, I will be in position to know where my future lies.” The 26-year old whose current contract with Helsingborg runs out next June, is still refusing to sign an extended two-year deal being offered to him, which would keep him with the Swedish club until June 2010. FC Nordjalland finished the 2006/7 season in fifth position with 57 points, 19 behind the champions Fc Copenhagen. Karekezi has also refuted reports that he had fallen out with the club manager Stuart Baxter after missing the Uefa Cup qualifier loss to Holland’s Heerenveen and the 3-4 loss to Orebre SK in the Allsvenskan league. Karekezi missed those two fixtures with a nagging knee injury. Meanwhile, Helsingborg manager Baxter is under pressure from the club fans following the recent poor performance. Karekezi has scored five goals for his Swedish club in the Allsvenskan Premier league and two in the Uefa Cup. Helsingborg host Heerenveen in the return leg on October 4. Ends
