SOUTHERN PROVINCE MUHANGA — The Rongi sector will continue to recognise the efforts of hard working and exemplary residents in a bid to encourage competitiveness. This was said, by Clet Munyankindi, the Sector Executive Secretary, on November 14, during the awarding ceremony of area residents who had previously achieved tremendous goals. The function was held at Ntarabana parish grounds, attended by district officials, opinion leaders and hundreds of excited residents. Those awarded included: best performing cells, executive committees, farmers, cooperatives, sector employees, security personnel, religious, school, and development partners. They received different prizes ranging from medals, hoes and certificates in their respective categories. Sector officials said that they would increase the future rewards. Amidst music and jubilation, residents also celebrated their past achievements which they attributed to the current leadership of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF). “Through efforts of good leaders and cooperation of residents we have built schools, affordable health services, and adopted modern agricultural and environmental practices aimed at poverty reduction,” they stated. The highlights of their achievements include, increased agriculture output, completion of Gacaca cases, construction of 58 houses for vulnerable residents, and the setting up of two health posts. During the recent evaluation of district performance contracts, Rongi emerged third. Fidel Fundi, the district director of good governance commended the outstanding achievers urging others to emulate them so as to have uniform growth. Fundi, called on residents to maintain cleanliness in homesteads and join health insurance schemes in order to live healthy lives. He reaffirmed the district’s commitment to supporting the area development projects. Ends
