Burundi international Cedric Amissi is set to reunite with Rayon Sports in January if the ongoing talks between the two parties succeed. Amissi, who can play both as a midfielder and forward, is out of contract with Mozambique side Chibuto FC and is currently training with the 2016 Peace Cup winners. Club insiders, speaking to Times Sport on condition of anonymity, said they are waiting for the return of Rayon Sports president Denis Gacinya, who is in Belgium for a fundraising gala, to conclude the talks. “Amissi is one of the best players to ever play for Rayon Sports, so we will all be glad to have him back if he agrees with the club,” said Rayon Sports head coach Djuma Masudi. The 26-year old joined Rayon in January in 2013 and went on to set a new record for the highest number of goals scored by a player signed in mid season. He scored 16 league goals in 13 matches, bettering the previous record set by Labama Bokota Kamana, who scored 14 for Rayon Sports in 2007. After winning the league title with Rayon Sports under French coach, Didier Gomez Da Rosa, Amissi joined Chibuto where he spent two seasons. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
