From chairing national meetings to hosting foreign leaders, 2023 was an action-packed year for President Paul Kagame both in the country and beyond. The year started with the head of state chairing a special parliamentary session during which the current Senate president François-Xavier Kalinda was sworn in, replacing Augustin Iyamuremye who had earlier resigned on medical grounds.
