Top woman referee Mukansanga set for CAF Elite A course in Cameroon

Rwanda’s top professional referee Salma Rhadia Mukansanga has been selected among the top female referees across the continent by Confederation of African Football (CAF) to attend a high-profile CAF Elite A course in Cameroon. The five-day course is expected to start on October 26 and will run through October 30 at the Sports and Academic Centre of Mbankomo, located 25km from the capital of Yaoundé. The 27-aged old was selected alongside 47 other referees from different African nations, 22 of whom will be selected to officiate at the 2016 Africa Women Cup of Nations that will be staged in Cameroon from November 19 to December 3. “It’s a great opportunity for me to take my career to another level, I hope to benefit a lot and hopefully get selected among those that will officiate at the Africa Women Cup of Nations,” said Mukansanga before leaving Kigali for Cameroon. Mukasanga began her refereeing career in 2007 before becoming an international referee in 2012. Since then, she has officiated at major tournaments, including Africa U-17 and U-20 finals as well as senior World Cup preliminary games, 2015 All African Games, and the 2015 CECAFA women challenge that took place in Jinja, Uganda. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
