Editor, RE: “What weight should forensic DNA testing have?” (The New Times, September 6). Forensic DNA testing is 99.9% accurate. Meaning it has 0.1% error. It can therefore be regarded as the most effective method of determining paternity. Various countries can develop various protocols to avoid fraud related discrepancies. One of the protocols is to send different samples to a minimum of three laboratories in different countries, depending on how severe the case may be. If our forensic labs are developed to international standards, I believe we can be a regional hub for forensic DNA testing, considering the various indices that continue to show Rwanda as having zero tolerance to corruption.
