Rayon Sports head coach Djuma Masudi has hailed his new signings ahead of the upcoming 2016/2017 national football league, due to kick off next month. “They are good signings and in training they are responding well. We have signed the very players because we lost others who joined other clubs…..they will boost the team in the next season,” Masudi said Rayon Sports lost key players, including left back Emmanuel Imanishimwe, who signed for APR; and Davis Kasirye and Ismailia Diarra, who joined DR Congo’s Daring Club Motema Pembe. “We have to be at our best in the opening matches, we have to correct the mistakes that we made last season. We have to be at our best physically and mentally,” he added. Last season, under the guidance of Masudi, Rayon Sports won the Peace Cup and will represent Rwanda in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup. The team also finished second, behind champions APR, in the league. The Peace Cup champions have also signed play-maker Shassir Niyonkuru from Burundian giants Vital’O, midfielder Zappy Ishimwe from Sunrise FC, left back Ivan Senyange, striker Frank Lomami from Musanze, winger Nova Bayama and central defender from Mukura and AS Muhanga defender, Jimmy Ange Mutsinzi. Rayon have also promoted four players from their youth team, they include; Willy Amza Cyimana, Idrissa Sengimana, Hassan Hakizimana and Eric Muhanuka. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
