The national football governing body, Ferwafa is expected to take part in the official opening of the 4th Fifa Women’s Football Symposium at the Grand Hyatt Shanghai, China today. Two days prior to the final of the 5th Fifa Women’s World Cup, FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter will officially open the Symposium. The two-day event will be attended by more than 500 delegates from 203 of Fifa’s 208 member associations. Ferwafa CEO Jules Kalisa told Times Sport on Thursday before departing for China that the symposium is meant to enhance the role and position of women football in football and the women’s game in general. “We are going to learn new strategies which will further enhance the development of women football in our country as well the region,” Kalisa said. Kalisa was accompanied by federation’s officer in charge of women football, Jean Pierre Bazingango. The symposium is the product of more than two years’ work by the Fifa Development Division and its regional offices across all six continents. Comprehensive research has been conducted by Fifa development officers and women’s football experts in more than 150 countries including the analysis of women’s football and the role of women within each country. The objective is to gain a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities for women’s football in each respective region. Since the early 1990s, Fifa has been elaborating a strategy to boost the development and expansion of women’s football. Ends
