Five people died when a vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road on Kigali-Gicumbi highway, Police said on Friday. The accident occurred late Thursday, in Kageyo Sector, when a coaster bus, registration number RAB 672 I belonging to Stella company, and heading to Gicumbi from Kigali, rolled over a steep slope and landed in a gully, according to the Police. Police said three people, including a woman, died on the spot while two others died later at Byumba Hospital, where the injured were rushed for treatment. Seventeen people sustained injuries, 15 of them seriously, Superintendent Jean Marie Vianney Ndushabandi, the Acting Police spokesperson, told The New Times. The driver, identified as Felix Ndayambaje, was among the dead, he added. Ndushabandi said investigations were still ongoing to ascertain the cause of the accident. editorial@newtimes.corw
