Rwanda national women football team head coach Grace Nyinawumuntu is attending a CAF coaching course in Cameroon for women instructors from across Africa. The 10-day course started on Monday at the Sportive and Academic Center of Mbankomo and will run until August 24. The course, for both English and French speaking nations, is one of the new CAF Women Instructors courses aimed at sharpening the capacities of female coaches on the continent. Nyinawumuntu, who also doubles as the head coach of the women football league side, AS Kigali, was the first Rwandan international female referee in 2004 and later Rwanda’s first female professional football coach in 2008. She had a hand in the formation of AS Kigali women football club, and her side has gone on to win the national championship a record six times in a row, since 2010. She played in the first national women’s team in 2009 though the team never played in major competitions and become the team’s head coach in January 2014. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
