I want to first of all send thanks to The New Times for the wonderful service it is doing for the nation. I was very happy when The New Times brought to the attention of the police matters concerning Pastor Charles Murenzi. I have been following with contempt the story of Murenzi ever since his daughter’s (Mutesi Annet) escape from home to Uganda and the arrest of one Namusoke Harriet. I read an article in Friday’s Insight about the way police was handling Mutesi’s (not real names) case of how Murenzi allegedly sexually abused the girls before they left his church. Many things are happening and everyone is reacting differently about the story of how 7 girls went to CID and had a face to face interrogation with Murenzi present. Some say they are telling lies and others believe that it really happened. My only concern however comes in after reading this week’s Museso where someone was saying that The New Times is interested in Murenzi’s case. Is someone out there blaming The New Times for having brought Murenzi’s story to the attention of the public and the police? Let us really be serious on this? Who is Murenzi that he should not be talked about? What is all the fuss about Murenzi if bigger people can plead not to be put in the media? My only request is for CID to dig deeper and investigate Murenzi’s lifestyle as well as his past life while in Uganda. Can someone out there tell us about his behaviour during his missions in Burundi? What reputation is he having in the outside nations because I believe he has travelled before? I have heard that Shining Light Church has been breaking up on many occasions. May be we need a full probe into this church. Why is the flock leaving the shepherd? Maybe there are people who have worse stories about him and the church. Why would other pastors leave Shining Light Church? Don’t you really think that the church needs to be dug deeper and know where the real problem is coming from? Name withheld on request lovedchelsea@yahoo.com
