Editor, Please allow me to extend my greetings and warm wishes to all Indians living in Rwanda on the occasion of India’s Independence Day. We remember very specially all those who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle and also the great Mahatma Gandhi who strongly believed in non-violence and once remarked: “An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind”. The Government of Rwanda’s reconciliation programme, which is in line with what the Father of the Indian nation (Gandhi) once said, is really commendable because this initiative ensures that peace, harmony and forgiveness are virtues which are inculcated in the minds and hearts of all students before they leave the portals of high school to face the challenges of today’s highly demanding world.
