Amb. Charles Karamba on Monday, December 18, presented letters of credence to President Ismail Omar Guelleh of Djibouti, as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Rwanda accredited to Djibouti with residence in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. ALSO READ: Kagame, Djibouti foreign minister discuss Horn of Africa security A statement from the Rwandan embassy noted that the ceremony held at the presidential palace in Djibouti City symbolised the robust and excellent bilateral relations that exist between “the two brotherly countries.” Rwanda and Djibouti on May 10 signed three bilateral agreements as both countries mull strengthening ties. As noted, Amb. Karamba thanked the President for accepting his appointment as Rwanda’s envoy to Djibouti and conveyed warm greetings from President Paul Kagame to President Guelleh. ALSO READ: Kagame: Djibouti Trade Zone will benefit the region The Rwandan envoy praised “the excellent and friendly relationship between two brotherly countries emanating from their top visionary leadership and expressed his commitment and readiness to work together” to strengthen the existing relationship and bilateral cooperation. The statement adds: “President Ismail Omar Guelleh, on his part warmly welcomed Ambassador Karamba and congratulated him for his appointment. “He recalled the excellent relationship and cooperation between the governments and the people of the two countries. The President offered his personal and government support to the new Ambassador of Rwanda in order to accomplish his mission and duties in the Republic of Djibouti.” As noted, Rwanda and Djibouti have excellent bilateral relations and cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, air services, information and communication technology, education, diplomatic training, agriculture, and tourism. “Both countries anticipate a further solidifying of their bilateral and multilateral cooperation that will undoubtedly contribute to the strengthening of ties and the realization of shared visions and prosperity for their peoples.”
