Rwandan beach volleyball teams, men and women, departed for Kenya on Monday, December 18, aboard Rwanda Air ahead of the CAVB Zone V Beach volleyball championship which serves as a qualifying event for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The regional qualifiers, men and women, will take place in Mombasa, Kenya, from December 19-24. The tournament will also act as a qualifying event for the 2024 All African Games. ALSO READ: Beach volleyball: Rwanda confirmed for Zone V 2024 Olympic qualifiers Rwanda sent two representatives in each of the men and women beach volleyball qualifiers. The two women teams include Valentine Munezero and Penelope Musabyimana as well as Albertine Uwiringiyimana and Aloys Tuyishime while Olivier Ntagengwa and Venuste Gatsinzi as well as Patrick Kavalo Akumuntu and Gloire Niyonkuru will be competing in the men’s fray. The top three countries in the zonal qualifiers will qualify for next year's CAVB Continental Cup, whose winner will get the sole ticket to the Paris Olympics. The winner will automatically qualify for the delayed All African Games. The Zone Five Beach Volleyball Olympic qualifiers will attract eight countries including hosts Kenya, Egypt, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Somalia, Rwanda and Burundi.
