The defending champions beat Ruhango in their opening game 3-0 (17-25, 16-25 and 10-25) before defeating St Alloys de Rwamagana 3-1 (19-25, 18-25, 25-19, 21-25), while they overcame archrivals APR 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-19 and 26-24) in their third match. Hosts St Alloys de Rwamagana lost to APR in straight sets 0-3 (14-25, 22-25 and 20-25) while the army side also beat Ruhango VC 3-0 (22-25, 24-26 and 15-25). Ruhango VC also lost to St Alloys 3-1 (22-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-17). RRA will be seeking to finish the league unbeaten for the second consecutive season when they host the fourth round of playoffs on Saturday at Ecole Belge in Kigali. Under Jean Luc Ndayikengurukiye, the Nyarugenge-based side won the title in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015 before Jean de Dieu Masumbuko came in this year to lead them to the 2016 crown. RRA won the title with 63 points ahead of second-placed APR (with 38) while St Alloys de Rwamagana came in third place, with 35 points, with Ruhango in fourth with 26 points. The tax collectors’ side will represent Rwanda in next year’s Africa Women Club Championship.
