Burundian midfielder Pierrot Kwizera has signed a two-year contract extension to remain at Rayon Sports until end of 2018, the club’s secretary general Olivier Gakwaya has confirmed. The 25-year-old, in his first season, has been influential for Djuma Masudi’s side, guiding them to the Peace Cup success, beating archrivals APR 1-0 in the final as well as second place finish in the league, behind APR FC. Kwizera will earn a monthly salary of Rwf500,000 in addition to other bonuses. “He is a good player, very skilled and we are glad to have him for two more years. For him to have signed a new contract is like signing a new player,” Gakwaya told Saturday Sport. He added, “Kwizera is a skilled footballer who is willing to improve his game and career with Rayon Sports. I hope he will boost the club’s ambition of winning silverware in the upcoming season.” In preparation for a major assault on the next league title push, the Blues are looking to renew contracts of Djabel Manishimwe, Kevin Muhire and Savio Dominique Nshuti among others. Meanwhile, left-back Emmanuel Imanishimwe could find himself in trouble with the local football authorities for allegedly signing for three different clubs including; AFC Leopards of Kenya, APR and Rayon Sports. Last month, the Rwanda international confirmed he had signed for AFC Leopards and that he would be earning US$1,000 per month, then on Thursday; Rayon Sports posted a photo as the player was signing a contract extension in the presence of club president Denis Gacinya and SG, Gakwaya. Later, reports came through that the 22-year-old, who joined Rayon from second division side ASPOR on a two-year deal in 2014, had also signed a separate two-year deal with APR worth Rwf8m and will be earning Rwf500,000 per month. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
