Dear Editor, I would like to express my appreciation for the wonderful job done by The New Times team towards environmental reporting. The coverage has given the public an opportunity to read, understand and appreciate the importance of environmental management. Depending on the tastes and preferences, readers always search for articles of their interest such as sports, business, entertainment and culture among others. For example, what interests me most, is the environment. I have always rushed to environmental articles, something that has boosted my reading culture. As I was searching for some environmental article, I came across a well-researched article entitled “Cleaner production: a measure to curb global warming” which was published on the 29th /10/2008. It was very educative and those who managed to read it must have benefited a lot. The article highlighted climate change issues, which directly affect the population. We have heard and seen disasters like floods and landslides in the district of Nyabihu, located in the Northern province and drought in Bugesera district in the Eastern province. Such have had adverse consequences to people’s lives. People ought to be educated on these issues.Keep it up New Times, and let such stories continue to flow as this will prompt positive actions.
