Tuyisenge dedicates new song to RPF freedom fighters

As the country marked 22 years of liberation on July 4, Jean de Dieu Tuyisenge officially released his lasted single, Umutamenwa, which he dedicated to freedom fighters that stopped the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi. Tuyisenge’s song is a dedication to all the freedom fighters that liberated the country from the dictatorial and brutal regime that claimed over a million lives. The 28-year-old native of Kirehe District performed- Umutamenwa for the first time in Rweru Sector, Bugesera District, before thousands of people who had gathered to commemorate Liberation Day. (Emmanuel Ntirenganya) In the song, Tuyisenge pays tribute to the former Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA)--Inkotanyi, currently Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF), for the unity and determination that enabled them to win the struggle to liberate Rwanda on July 4, 1994. “We have achieved a lot, thanks to peace and security registered so far, and we thank the RDF for having liberated Rwanda and made us achieve what we have today. That’s why I composed the song, Umutamenwa,” said the singer, whose stage name is Intore. In the song, the artiste also talks about other responsibilities, the army has undertaken like offering free medical treatment and construction of homes for the needy on top of engagement in peace missions. Having ventured into music in 2003, Tuyisenge has produced several singles. His first song, Intore Izirusha Intambwe, was released in 2007. It was followed by several songs including Unkumbuje u Rwanda, Ak’i Muhana, Philosophie, and Ngwino urebe. Tuyisenge’s music promotes unity and development. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
