Queen Cha has released a song that may have been inspired by her breakup with ex-boyfriend DJ Cox. Budding singer Queen Cha and her then-boyfriend DJ Cox. Dubbed Alone, the song tells a heartbreaking story of a young woman who’s heartbroken after breaking up with her long time boyfriend. She begs him to take her back but he decides that he’s done with her. In an interview with The New Times this week, the 25-year-old budding singer denied that the melancholic song was targeting her ex DJ Cox, but it was inspired by terrible relationships and breakups among young people in society. “Alone isn’t about my ex-boyfriend DJ Cox. I wrote the song before we split and he actually helped me with some of the lyrics. It’s by coincidence that I released it after we broke up,” she insists. “It took me a long time to filter through everything I wanted to say. I had to modify some of the lyrics because the original tone was a bit harsh. So I had to filter it down to a story that could work in the form of a song.’ The Kizimyamoto singer is currently busy in studio working on another single to be released early next month. The 25-year-old singer started her music career in 2010 with support from her cousin Safi Madiba, a member of the Urban Boys, before rapper Riderman signed her to his record company, Ibisumizi Studio. Her popular singles include Umwe Rukumbi, Icyaha Ndacyemera, Njye Ndagukunda, Windekura and Isiri, among others. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
