Rwanda U18 national basketball team started residential training camp on Monday ahead of the upcoming 2016 FIBA Africa U18 Championship that will be held at Amahoro Indoor Stadium from July 22-31. So far, five countries including; Mali, Egypt, Tunisia, Angola and hosts Rwanda have qualified for the 2016 FIBA Africa U18 Championship. Seven additional countries will earn the right to take part in the event through the FIBA Africa Zones. Moise Mutokambali’s youth team will be training at Amahoro indoor stadium. The team is residing at Green Hills Academy. “We have started training and everything looks good, we will continue to train once a day. We have an excellent team and our target is to transform them into winners ahead of the tournament,” Mutokambali said. Six years ago, Rwanda hosted the tourney and finished in sixth position. However, this time, Mutokambali believes his boys will do a lot better. The 12-team tournament will serve as a qualifier for the 2017 FIBA U19 World Championship that will take place in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
