FormerAmavubi and Gor Mahia striker, Meddie Kagere is in talks with Kenyan Premier League side AFC Leopards over a possible switch to the den. The 29-year old forward has been club-less since parting ways with Gor Mahia in December 2015. He was angling for a move back to Gor this June after failing to secure a move elsewhere but the club instead opted to sign Brazilian striker Thiago De Lima. Former Police, Rayon Sports striker is now in talks with Leopards over a move to Ivan Minnaert’s side before the end of this month. “Preliminary talks have taken place and he is willing to join us. But it will all depend with his financial demands,” Minnaert said on Thursday. Kagere was one of Gor’s stand-out performers in 2015 as the side won the league unbeaten. The Rwanden striker had set his sights on returning to Gor Mahia but has now focused on Gor’s archrivals. AFC Leopards have already signed Rayon Sports and Rwanda left back Emmanuel Imanishimwe and Mali striker Ismailia Diarra. Diarra has signed a year and a half deal while Imanishimwe penned a two-year deal. If signed, Kagere will join other places that have been recruited that include Bernard Mangoli, Edwin Wafula Yusuf Suf, Charles Bruno, Crispin Odula, Ian Otieno and Harun Nyakha. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
