Editor, RE: “MoH issues malaria alert” (The New Times, June 15). I wonder whether the Ministry of Health has already resolved the issue of substandard bed nets. Malaria is a disease for poor people who cannot afford to buy good nets or those who have no health insurance. In Rwanda, the two conditions are met—the Government of Rwanda provides them for free and encourages everyone to get one. Then we can ask ourselves, what is missing? For me, we are not honest with our leader: nets provided are substandard. Why? The response is easy: no commitment from the people in charge. Second: problem related to Mutuelle de Sante which has a huge impact on the affected people by malaria Lastly: awareness raising is still very low. With President Paul Kagame’s leadership and the love he has for Rwandans, we will overcome this challenge. But all of us, we have to support him. Saro wa Sibo
