Rwanda’s top tennis seeds, Ernest Habiyambere and Olivier Havugimana, are in Nairobi, Kenya to compete in this year’s Britam Kenya Open Championships set for June 18-25 at the Nairobi Club. The duo, fresh from competing in this year’s Genocide memorial tennis tournament, will be making their debut it the annual tournament that attracts the best players in the region. The 17-year-old Habiyambere, who dethroned Dieudonne Habiyambere as Rwanda’s number one two months ago, will be aspiring to maintain his fantastic record since joining the seniors category, where he has won all three tournaments he has competed in. These include; Umubano Open (2015), Gasigwa Memorial tourney (2016) and the recently held Genocide memorial tournament. The week-long tournament is expected to attract over 100 players in different categories from the East African region. It has a total prize money of Ksh1, 357,200 (about Rwf10.58m) to be distributed among the ten categories.
