CAF U20 Championships Today Egypt U20 vs Rwanda U20 9:30pm Rwanda U-20 team (Junior Wasps) have a mountain to climb when they take on Egypt this evening in the return leg of the second round of 2017 U-20 CAF qualifiers at Cairo International Stadium. Having lost the first leg in Kigali 1-0 two weeks ago, thanks to forward Ahmed Mohamed Taher’s goal in the 50th minute, coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga’s boys face an uphill task to bounce back if they are to qualify for the third qualification round. Boosted with the return of striker Blaise Itangishaka (Marines) and Bugesera FC defender Amani Niyonkuru, who missed the first leg due to an injury and suspensions respectively, Kayiranga will be looking for an unlikely win in North Africa where Rwandan teams hold a good record. Before flying to Egypt on Wednesday with his 18-man squad, Kayiranga told Times Sport that; “Our focus is to put up a good performance in the second leg to ensure that we progress to the next round. We failed to score at home but we can turn things around nonetheless.” The winner between Rwanda and Egypt will face either Angola or Gabon in the final round of the qualifiers that will produce seven teams to join hosts Zambia for the final tournament scheduled from February 26 through March 12, 2017. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
