The tournament kicks-off on Monday September 26 and is expected to wind up October 1. Nine teams are set to battle it out in the FIBA Africa Zone Cup for Women 2022 Club Championship. It's a qualifier for the 2022 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women. The local powerhouse is placed in Group B alongside the hosts Vijana Queens (Tanzania)and Wolktie (Ethiopia) while REG placed in Group C alongside KPA (Kenya) and Young Sisters (Burundi). With the top team assured of a ticket to the FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women, it will be a tight duel as it will be competitive. For Tanzania, this will be the third successive club tournament they are hosting in the region in recent years. Meanwhile, APR and Rwanda Energy Group (REG) will present Rwanda in this year's Africa Zone Five Club championship, after emerging champions of respective local leagues.
