The Rwanda volleyball federation (FRVB) has signed a three-year partnership deal worth Rwf15 with Energy Utility Corporation Limited (EUCL) to promote volleyball in the country. The deal will see EUCL pump Rwf5m every year to promote volley ball. “We want to improve volleyball. We will be using the money to develop the game across the country. We are trying to secure more sponsorship in order to address the financial problems,” Gustave Nkurunziza, the federation president said. He added that the sponsorship deal will help the federation in organization of the competitions. He added that they are still in talks with other sponsors, adding that there’s hope to secure other good deals. The sponsorship will start with the Genocide Memorial Tournament which will kick off on Saturday and end on Sunday. Rayon Sports and Rwanda Revenue Authority are defending champions in men’s and women’s categories respectively. The volleyball federation has been struggling to secure sponsors for the league and other competitions. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
