APR VC defeated Kigali Volleyball Club 3-0 to extend their lead in the national volleyball league in the match played on Sunday at Amahoro Indoor Stadium. In other matches, Rayon Sports lost 3-0 to victors and defending champions, INATEK, Lycee de Nyanza beat Umubano Blue Tigers 3-0 while Kirehe beat IPRC South 3-0. APR lead the team with 30 points, four ahead of defending Champions INATEK who have two games in hand, Kirehe is in third place with 19 points with two games in hand. In the women category defending champions, Rwanda Revenue Authority lead the table with 30 points, after beating IPRC Kigali 3-0 on Saturday, former champions APR, remain in second place with 24 points after beating Lycee de Nyanza 3-1 while St Alloys beat St Joseph 3-0. Meanwhile Kenya will host the 2016 Women’s African Nations Championship after the African Volleyball Confederation entrusted the Central African country to orgainse this edition from October 20- 27. The second edition of this age category after the first in Algeria in 2014 will act also as a qualifier for the FIVB World Championship of this age group in 2017. The competition is expected to attract the major teams led by the defending champions, Egypt, runners up Tunisia and the bronze medalists Algeria.
