WESTERN PROVINCE NYAMASHEKE — New roads will be constructed and water pipes installed in the Rusizi District, over the next few years, the district Mayor has announced. Vincent Muragwa, said this is contained in the new District Master Plan aimed at giving the district a new facelift. He said Rwf 9million is already available for the initial work. According to the plan, the district will also install solar energy panels in all the 15 sectors of the district, among other things. Talking to The New Times, the Mayor disclosed that the activities would begin in Kagano sector where the district headquarters are located, before being rolled out to other sectors. “The district in collaboration with a construction company from Kigali has finished designing a master plan for our district… the move is aimed at giving the district a new facelift and to prevent residents from constructing houses and doing other activities in a disorderly way,” Muragwa said. Noting that the master plan would improve the living standards of the residents socially and economically, the Mayor noted that its implementation would be among the key priorities next year. He added that they are encouraging more investors to invest in things like hotels and factories in the region. Residents have also welcomed the development, saying it would create order. Ends
