Rwanda witnessed a groundbreaking moment in its music scene with the launch of the ‘Crescendo Music Xperience’ by three exceptionally talented local DJs - Platy Wanyama, Dallas, and Selecta Danny. Hosted at Iwacu 250 on December 9, bi-monthly musical extravaganza promises to redefine the way music is celebrated in the country and the continent alike. It is a day show and will be hosted two weeks a month in different venues. The inaugural evening of ‘Crescendo Music Xperience’ was designed to be an electrifying celebration embracing diverse musical genres while fostering cultural appreciation and a lively atmosphere. Attendees dressed in cultural attire added to the vibrant ambiance of the event. Following Danny, DJ Dallas did not give fans time for a break as he kept the same vibe and hype, staying close to the theme of local music, ensuring a seamless transition from the previous act. The climax of the evening arrived with DJ Platy Wanyama stepping onto the stage, treating the audience to a selection of African tunes, spotlighting iconic African artists like Miriam Makeba, Nameless, among others. As the clock struck 7:30 pm, the curtains closed on this remarkable show, leaving the audience happy and eagerly anticipating the forthcoming edition slated for December 23. The combination of curated music, cultural resonance, and an engaging atmosphere marked the Crescendo Music Xperience as a new movement in town particularly, Rwanda’s music. It’s a cultural celebration aiming to address the shortage of local songs representation in clubs. “The initiative started with showcasing Afrobeat, highlighting talents from Rwanda and across Africa,” he said, adding that this endeavor intends to create an immersive musical experience, encompassing both nostalgia and contemporary hits.” “The next edition aims to feature DJ warm-ups, freestyle battles, and dedicated time for Rwandan songs, fostering an engaging atmosphere for both DJs and attendees,” Tuyishime added. Equally, Patience Ishimwe Cyizere, a fan, expressed her excitement, noting the unique vibrancy the event brings, particularly for local music enthusiasts. She believes collaboration and support within the community could elevate Rwandan music, creating an identity similar to what Nigerians and other countries have achieved. Emerging DJ, Dj Proxx, real name Placide Ndaruhutse, highlighted the significance of showcasing Afro music, expressing admiration for Rwandans’ appreciation for their own music. The move was part of a learning opportunity, observing how DJs curate playlists according to fans’ preferences. Ndaruhutse believes that Rwandans have potential to learn from other countries, and aspire to elevate Rwandan music towards global recognition.
