Kirehe Volleyball Club will not take part in the 10th edition of the Paul Bitok Amaco international volleyball tournament that will be held at Eldoret Polytechnic grounds in Kenya, from May 13 -15. Kirehe head coach Pierre Marshal Kwizera told Times Sport that they will not participate in the tournament due to a congested schedule. “We have a pile up of games and some of them are against big teams which we need to prepare thoroughly. That does not leave us any room to prepare for such a tournament,” Kwizera said. 50 teams will take part in the Paul Bitok tournament including; Uganda’s KAVC men and women, Nemo stars men, and others from Kenya, including big names GSU, Ulinzi, Prisons, cooperative and Kenya Pipeline. The tournament, regarded by many as Kenya’s biggest tournament, will see winners take home KSh100, 000 (Rwf 0.7m) with first and second runners up pocketing KSh50, 000 (Rwf 0.4m) and Sh25, 000(Rwf0.3m), respectively, in women and men’s categories. The junior category for schools winners will be awarded balls and nets in boys and girls category. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
