Four international coaches have been shortlisted by the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) for the position of Technical Director. The quartet include Dutchman Hendrikus Pieter de Jongh, Giovanni Scanu of Italy, Frenchman Sebastien Desabre (France) and Michael Weiss of Germany. One of them will be picked to replace Englishman Lee Johnson, who resigned in April 2015. “We received nine applications for the position of the Technical Director, and assessed them before narrowing down to the final four. We are now in the process of making a decision on the most capable coach for the position, together with our main stakeholder, the Ministry of Sports and Culture,” said FERWAFA president Vincent Nzamwita. The five that failed to make the cut are Adalbert Ivanov Zafirov (Bulgaria), Kiko Lopez (Spain), Antonio Flores (Spanish-German), Drago Mamic (Croatia) and Conor Marlin (Northern Ireland). The major tasks of the technical director will include delivering and managing youth development programmes; developing and implementing player analysis tools to enhance performance and support development; organising, planning, managing and delivering multiple projects to meet key performance indicators. Former Amavubi striker and now Amavubi assistant coach Jimmy Mulisa will deputise the yet-to-be appointed technical director. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
