Lace dresses; they have been a fashion statement since the 80’s. The trend is clearly here to stay though diverse ways of getting the look right have surfaced over the years. It can be worn anywhere depending on the occasion, thus making it adorned by many women. For a truly stunning look, local designers suggest that one should go for a dress that is lacier either at the top or bottom but not the entire outfit. A little colour won’t hurt either. “One has to be careful when picking the right dress. For instance, women with a smaller bust should go for dresses that are transparent at the top, while those with a big bust should opt for ones that are more transparent at the bottom,” says Fanny Uwimana, who owns a beauty shop in town. She adds that going for a lace dress that has two different colours will brighten ones outfit beyond the ordinary.For Erick Birasa, a designer at Ian Boutique, with a lace dress, one can easily accessorise. “One can opt for a lace dress that is sleeveless then throw on a blazer, if you are not into exposing skin. Also, looks stylish to add a belt to the dress,” Birasa advises. Also, be careful with some colours when it comes to lace. An all-white dress could end up making you look like a bride.
