Burundi international Pierro Kwizera has confirmed he will not extend his contract with Rayon Sports when it runs at the end the current season. Speaking to Time Sports on Wednesday, the midfielder said, “I do not intend to renew my contract, I’m planning to leave when my contract ends. The club has not approached me about the issue of my contract.” The 23-year-old joined Rayon Sports in January 2015 on an 18-month deal from Tanzanian Premier League side, Simba Sports Club. The player has scored four goals in the league this season and tops the assists table with 7 to his name. When asked about the player’s situation, the club president Denis Gacinya said that they plan to start talks with several players, including Kwizera, although the midfielder appears resigned to find a new challenge elsewhere at the end of season. Gacinya noted that, “Just like with other players, we are planning to initiate talks with them to discuss their contract extension.” The other players whose contracts are coming to an end at the end of this season, include; James Tubane, Eric Irambona, Moses Kanamugire and Ismail Diarra. Rayon Sports sits on second position in the table with 36 points from 17 matches. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
