Midfielder Kevin Muhire and striker Musa Esenu scored in either half to help Rayon Sports beat Muhazi United 2-0 on Wednesday at Kigali Pele Stadium and hence leave the title race wide open. The Blues came into the game knowing that a win would see them close the gap between them and league leaders APR FC to within just one point and... they couldn’t afford to make a mistake before their home supporters. Rayon Sports were the better side in the early stages of the encounter with Ali Serumogo marauding down the right flank with lightening pace. But Emmanuel Ruremesha’s mane made inroads in midfield with Joseph Sackey and Mohammed Kyune putting up a commanding display to control the home side’s high pressing from the midfield. The midfielder hit a fantastic free kick from 19 yards which went straight into the net after Heritier Luvumbu was fouled at the edge of the penalty box. Muhazi United pushed for the equalizer but could not find the back of the net until both teams head for the half time break. The second half saw Rayon continuing their dominance despite Muhazi chasing the game. Coach Mohammed Wade made a right substitution in Arsene Tuyisenge who came in for Youssef Rharb in the 71st minute and subsequently made an impact, setting up Musa Esenu who headed home the cross to make it 2-0. It was an advantage that Rayon decided to defend as the players started to slow the tempo of the game until the referee blew his final whistle. The victory moved Rayon to second place with 26 points, just a point shy of league leaders APR FC. Other Games At Huye Stadium, Mukura Victory Sports came from behind to thrash Kiyovu Sports 4-1. Richard Kilongozi gave the visitors the lead before Jean Marie Vianney Muvandimwe, Elie Tatou, Mohammed Sylla and Samuel Pimpong scored for the home side to secure the three points. Elsewhere, Etincelles put struggling AS Kigali to the sword with a 4-2 humiliating victory at Umuganda Stadium.
