Rwanda Revenue Authority women volleyball club has started intensive preparations ahead of the upcoming Women’s African Club Championship slated for April 22-29 in Nairobi, Kenya. The Rwandan champions will be looking for a good outing in a competition which is expected to attract the best 16 clubs on the continent, including the holders Ahly Cairo, and record winners Kenya Pipeline, who have seven titles. “Our preparations are good and we have won all our league matches so far this season. In Nairobi, we will be up against the best teams in Africa, but we are confident about our ability,” head coach Jean-Luc Ndayikengurukiye said. The former KVC and APR right attacker added, “My team has played at such a big stage before, so we want to improve on our previous position, it is a big challenge, but we are looking forward to the tournament with optimism.” Last year in Egypt, RRA finished 6th after defeating the more experienced FAP of Cameroon 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) in the classification match. Egyptian club Ahly Cairo claimed their 6th crown. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
