FixturesNovember 7Rwanda A v UgandaSwitzerland v BadenBSG v DR CongoRwanda B v Burundi THE National Paralympics Committee (NPC) has failed to raise Frw20 million as estimated budge for the 2nd World Sit-ball Championships set for November 7-8 in Kigali. NPC president Dominique Bizimana said yesterday that preparations for the world event have been hit with financial constraints, a week before the scheduled kick-off. “We have contacted different companies and they have all promised to offer sponsorship to the tournament but we have not yet been able to raise the needed money to organize the event,” Bizimana said. Bizimana added that they have received 10.000 Euros (Frw7, 210,901) German based Human Help Network and 2000 Euros (Frw1, 442,120) from the Germany Embassy in Rwanda. Voluntary Services Overseas(VSO) has also injected Frw1 million in the event. Other support has come form the International Sit-ball Federation, Handicap International and Kigart. According to NPC, the money is needed to cater for the particiating teams’ internal transport costs, accomodation and prizes. The Ministry of Culture and Sports has pledged to offer Frw10 millions while DED accepted to offer its sponsorship worth Frw700,000 as well as volunteers. With five days to go, the national Paralympics body is pursuing different sponsors. They include; MTN, Bralirwa, Sulfo, BNR, BK, Senena Hotels, Sonarwa among others. Eight teams have confirmed participation in World event being staged in Kigali for the second time in two years. Rwanda will be represented by two teams, Rwanda A and B. Ends
