Editor, RE: “Why we should jealously guard the image of Kigali” (The New Times, March 25). This is a very nice input. Kigali is a brand now when talking of law and order, peace and security, and environmental friendly. To maintain the brand, serious efforts have to be in place; as the city grows fast the use of street cameras should be advocated. Criminals fear cameras more than police. The use of cameras helps to discover the wrongdoer and recover stolen items or money in a very short time. The City must be categorized basing on activities too. There are places/roads that motorcycles should not be allowed to operate given the sensitivity of the road or place. There should be special buses with special routes at some roads to maintain order and avoid nuisance. For example, the road passing adjacent to Village Urugwiro should be restricted for only light traffic, and motorcycles should not be allowed to operate through the road around Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
