FERWABA, Shooting Touch empower young basketballers

Rwanda Basketball Federation (FERWABA) in partnership with Shooting Touch conducted a two-day event aimed at empowering young players with basketball skills in Kayonza district and City of Kigali respectively. The events that attracted over 100 young players, mostly girls ended on Sunday at Amahoro indoor stadium, in Kigali. Part of the activities included; empowering the girls with drills, and sensitization against drug abuse. Among the several coaches involved in the activities included; senior men’s national team coach Moise Mutokambali, together with several coaches from Shooting Touch; Leah Westbrooks (Ireland) and Justine Lyons (Massachusetts). FERWABA secretary general, Richard Mutabazi said: “We are pleased to work with Shooting Touch in any effort to empower and encourage young people especially the girls to play basketball.” Lindsey Kittredge, the Executive Director of Shooting Touch said, “We hope to expand the programme to other districts across Rwanda.” Shooting Touch is a sport for development non-profit organization whose mission is to use the power of basketball to educate and empower young people around the world.
