Editor, RE: “Rugamba, Mugabo set pace in youth fashion industry” (The New Times, March 20). There has recently been a series of stories about the ‘Made in Rwanda’ initiative. In keeping with this trend, two young and enterprising Rwandans, Mathew Rugamba and Sonia Mugabo, have put the ‘Made in Rwanda’ agenda in the right perspective. As reported in your story, Rwanda’s fashion industry is on the rise and this is progressively giving jobs to many across the country. Rugamba and Mugabo are proof that Africa is not a problem to solve but an opportunity to seize. And to seize this opportunity, the Indian Merchants Chamber, a 109-year-old Premier Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will be leading a multi-sector business delegation to Rwanda from May 2-6, 2016. Through The New Times, we would like to extend a very special invitation to both Mr Rugamba and Ms Mugabo as well as to the Private Sector Federation to be part of this initiative and attend the business seminar along with the business to business sessions which will be held on May 3. Such business interactions with larger economies of the world would encourage many more “Rugambas” and “Mugabos” to excel in their respective fields of expertise and subsequently give ‘Remarkable Rwanda’ a cutting edge and a pride of place in the community of nations.
