New association to enhance salon business launched

Rwanda’s salon business could be professionalized thanks to the new association. The Association of salon owners and operators Rawanda (ASR) aims at streamlining salon business with in Kigali City and its suburbs. The Association is funded and supported by the Letshego Rwanda Limited and aims at bring together all salon operators from Districts of Gasabo, Kicukiro, and Nyarugenge. According to the Director of the Association, Haruna Rushigajiki, the idea to equip more than 15000 operators with business oriented innovative skills and ensure excellent customer service delivery. “We want to raise the standard of salon business in the country to be able to contribute to the government’s efforts of turning Rwanda into a service based economy.” It is therefore critical that we design policies and guidelines that will boost professionalism, he added. Jean Claude Rukundo, member of the association said, the platform will play a critical role in advocating and advancing interests of members and help policy makers to design policies based on facts on ground. According to Joel Uwizeye, the Chief Executive Officer of Letshego Rwanda Limited, the support is in line with Bank’s strategy to improve livelihoods and reduce poverty levels in the country. In 2014, Letshego-Rwanda limited, formerly known as Rwanda Microfinance Limited (RML) launched its new brand name with a promise to change the lives of Rwandans and improve the microfinance sector.
