The Ministry of Justice has given out 17,941 mobile phones to members of mediation committees to help improve service delivery. The issuance of the handsets follow a 2014 promise to facilitate the local mediators in communication. The phones will help ease communication with lawyers in case of need for application and interpretation of complicated legal issues, Francoise Umugwaneza, public relations officer at the Ministry of Justice told Saturday Times yesterday. She said the handsets were sent to all districts depending on the number of mediators there. The phones will help in dissemination of information between mediators and facilitate easy flow of information from the ministry to the mediation committees,” she added. Apart from Gicumbi, all the other districts in the country have already received the mobile phones. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
