Sammy Mulinge’s side defeated the high school side in the first game of 2016 league match in straight sets 3-0 (25-18, 25-16 and 25-17) at Amahoro indoor stadium. After the match Mulinge said, “It is good to win first game but we have to continue our preparations ahead of the next fixtures. We have good players but they will need time to be able to compete favourably on high level.” Looking ahead to the next match in Kirehe, the Kenyan trainer said, “It will be a very tough game because they have good players. They’ve also won their first match (against KVC), but we have a week to prepare.” Lycee de Nyanza coach Leon Fidele Mutesi attributed the loss to his players’ inexperience but insisted they are going to work hard in order to improve their level. “It was hard to play against APR because they are a very strong side. We are going to continue working hard to improve our level of playing. I believe we can do better,” said the former APR player. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
