Editor, RE: “South Sudan president re-appoints rival under peace deal” (The New Times, February 12). So we are back to square one after thousands have been killed, many more have been displaced and seen their meagre possessions destroyed. What, gentlemen, was your dispute about, and what did it benefit anyone other than the arms-traders and assorted traffickers who always derive their fattest profits from strife and human mayhem? And does anyone really believe that this is the end of the causes of the conflict, and these two camps aren’t just biding their time for the next round? We Africans are truly our worst enemies. Through our own stupidity, we always give outsiders the opening they need to barge in any take over our affairs from us, and then we bleat on about foreign interference. Mwene Kalinda
