The Minister for Justice and Attorney General, Johnston Busingye has urged partners in justice sector on hard work and time management for better service delivery. Busingye was last week addressing a stakeholders’ meeting convened to evaluate performance for fiscal year 2015/16 and plan for 2016/17. “Everyone in their duties has the power to take decisions. We have to learn a culture of respecting time in whatever we do. In this era we do not need supervisors. Dream, wake up and act to achieve the dream,” Busingye said. More than 31,518 cases were resolved in collaboration with community mediators. In December last year, 437 cases were still pending, according to reports presented at the meeting. Busingye commended mediators and other partners for addressing conflicts in communities. He urged them to carry out regular assessment of their performance to establish their strengths and weaknesses. “We should recognise the hard work of community mediators who work voluntarily to reconcile the people,” Busingye said. He added that soon mobile phones will be distributed countrywide to every community mediator to facilitate their work.
