Editor, Re: “No visa fees for nationals from CHAN participants” (The New Times, January 9). I was delighted to read that the Government of Rwanda has waived visa fees for all the participating countries for the forthcoming sporting event African Nations Championship (CHAN). Visa fee waiver for a select number of international events is indeed a great initiative. Like CHAN, international travel and tourism conventions should also receive this special consideration, because the delegates attending such a convention will actually be promoting this beautiful country on their return. ‘Remarkable’ Rwanda will definitely stand to benefit from such positive decisions.
