Members of District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO) in Karongi District have been urged to uphold professionalism and conduct themselves in accordance with the law. The call was made on December 24, by various officials during a meeting with DASSO officers. While speaking at the meeting, Emmanuel Muhire, the district executive secretary, challenged them to focus on their mandate. “But you can’t achieve it alone. You should partner with Police and the residents to ensure public safety by preventing crimes before they happen.’’ The District Community Liaison Officer, Inspector of Police (IP) Jean Baptiste Rutebuka, echoed similar message urging them to always be on the preventive side. “You cannot earn the trust of citizens if you are undisciplined, violent or corrupt. You are required to be disciplined at all times and tackle societal challenges with confidence and professionalism,” IP Rutebuka said. He added that there are people who may try to use the festive holiday to commit crimes “but you have to ensure that you are always on alert to ensure public safety.” “You must bear in mind that whatever you do reflects the image of DASSO and, therefore, being professional is paramount,” he said. “Rwanda National Police and other security institutions and authorities are always here to work with you, so collaborate with them at all times,” IP Rutebuka said editorial@newtimes.co.rw
